Bucket hat
A bucket hat is a hat with a wide brim that slopes down. Usually the hat is made of high quality cotton such as denim or canvas. It sometimes has metal eyelets placed on the crown for ventilation. Bucket hats were created in 1900 and were originally made of felt or woolen fabric. These hats were worn by Irish farmers to protect from rain. The bucket hats remained naturally waterproof due to the lanolin contained in the unwashed wool.
Bucket hats were adopted as a highly fashionable headgear in the 60s. It could be seen both as street fashion and on the catwalk. The bucket hats were worn during that time by members of the Mod subculture. The modern bucket hats derive from a tropical hat that was made from olive yellow cotton that was assigned to the US Army during the Vietnam War. These lightweight bucket hats became popular with civilians for use in sports such as fishing and as sun protection.
Today it is more widespread who use these hats. They can be found in skate-punk bands as well as on the beach. Bucket hats are in! Find your own Bucket hat here at Hatstore.se!
